Aires Tropicales Quintet is a Cuban-Dutch ensemble that combines the European classical tradition with the lively rhythms of Cuba, Africa, Spain, and the Americas. Founded in 2021, the group is known for its energetic performances—in which the musicians play from memory—and weaves improvisation with a deep musical connection, thereby redefining the chamber music experience. The ensemble has collaborated with organizations such as Netflix and Vogue, appeared on major television programs like *Podium Klassiek* and *Mindvalley*, and performed at leading venues and festivals, including the Concertgebouw, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Elbphilharmonie. In 2024, they were part of the Ouranos Academy in Paris. In 2022, the ensemble won second prize at both the International Chamber Music Competition in Bolzano and the International Chamber Music Competition in Valencia. Over the past two years, the ensemble has developed new interdisciplinary projects, including a production for children in collaboration with Oorkaan and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
