The HearAndNow Collective forms the artistic core of the HearAndNow Foundation. The collective was founded in 2022 in Amsterdam and consists of young professional musicians from the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The collective plays together based on a shared fascination for contemporary classical music and the desire to bring this music to life with conviction and context and make it accessible.
The musicians of the collective are active as soloists and chamber musicians, play in a variety of ensembles, and have international careers. Members of the collective have performed at venues including the Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall, and the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, and have won prizes at various international competitions.
Within HearAndNow, they come together to deepen their repertoire, develop new music, and shed new light on existing works. The collective performs in various formations, including duo, trio, quartet, and quintet, with the string quartet as its core.
The collective has built a strong reputation in the Netherlands and internationally since its existence. They have been invited to renowned festivals such as the Presteigne Festival in Wales and the International Arts Festival in Malta. They also collaborate with composers from around the world and collaborate with ensembles that specialize in new music.
A recent highlight was the tour to Australia in 2025, where the collective collaborated with composers Jon Rose and Hollis Taylor on new compositions.
The collective's artistic direction arose from practical experience. During the first edition of the HearAndNow Chamber Music Festival in 2023, it became clear that contemporary music often becomes more accessible when it is linked to innovators from the musical tradition.
