Iris van Nuland (2002) from Oss received her first violin lessons at the Muzelinck music school at the end of 2008. During her secondary school years, she studied at the School for Young Talent of the
Royal Conservatoire of The Hague with Koosje van Haeringen and, from June 2017, with Peter Brunt, principal subject teacher of classical music violin.
In 2024, she will obtain her bachelor's degree with a final grade of 10 cum laude. In September 2024, Iris will begin her master's degree in classical violin at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Maria Milstein as her principal subject teacher. In 2025, Iris and the Otilka Quartet will win the Kersjes Prize from the Kersjes Fund, one of the larger private incentive funds for music in the Netherlands. She will also win the Kersjes Fund's Violin Scholarship in 2023.
In 2022, Iris wins third prize and the performance prize in the Oskar Back final of the Dutch Violin Competition, the premier competition for young violin talent. The jury reports: “She tells a story with soloistic verve. She shows courage and personality.”
