Amarante Wet

Composer Amarante Nat (Amsterdam, 1995) studied composition with Yannis Kyriakides and Martijn Padding, and classical singing with Gerda Van Zelm at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Prior to that, she studied composition with Willem Jeths and Wim Henderickx at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. In her work, she feels drawn to traditional Western musical forms such as opera, ballet, chamber music, and symphonic works. But she is also driven by research into new forms and musical ideas, such as installations and music theater.

She is fascinated by the human voice and body. In addition to composing herself at the piano, she feels the need to connect with other creative minds to exchange ideas, stimulate, develop, and inspire each other. Searching for new working processes and exploring how different art forms can merge and interact through interdisciplinary collaborations are therefore a crucial part of her work. Her other artistic activities include writing poetry, photography, ballet, and modern dance. Her work has been performed at the Muziekgebouw, Tivoli Vredenburg, Orgelpark, Eye Film Institute, DeSingel Antwerp, Musis Sacrum, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, Stopera, and Korzo.
