Sam Weller

Sam Weller is a dynamic orchestra conductor with a passion for sharing orchestral music with the world. He lives and works in Amsterdam and is closely involved in innovative projects to reach new audiences. Last year, Sam conducted renowned ensembles and orchestras—including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Klangforum Wien, and the Orchestra of the 18th Century—as one of six ‘chosen winners’ of the International Conducting Competition in Rotterdam. In 2016, Sam founded Ensemble Apex, which was praised by Limelight as “one of the most promising new ensembles in Sydney.” With sold-out concerts and acclaimed performances of Bartók's Miraculous Mandarin, Strauss’ Alpensinfonie, and Verdi's Requiem, Apex is redefining the orchestral experience for a wider audience. In 2024, they launched the Apex Festival, with support from the Australian government.

He recently made his debut at the iconic Concertgebouw with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and is looking forward to concerts with the Residentie Orkest and the National Opera Academy, as well as debuts with the symphony orchestras of Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia.

Sam conducted orchestras such as the North Netherlands Orchestra, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, PHION, Phil Zuid, and the LUDWIG Orchestra.
