Michel Xie is a classical pianist who specializes in chamber music and accompaniment. He is affiliated with the Conservatorium van Amsterdam as a piano teacher and accompanist. He is the founder and artistic director of the Rhinegold Festival, a chamber music festival in Wageningen.
He graduated from the Conservatory of Amsterdam with a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music, where he was taught by Frank van de Laar and Frank Peters. He then continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he specialized in Collaborative Piano. Here he graduated with a Master of Arts (DipRAM) and Advanced Diploma, under the supervision of Michael Dussek and James Baillieu, among others.
While studying in London, he performed at Wigmore Hall, released a CD with violist Julie Park on Linn Records, and won several prizes, including second prize in the Schumann Lieder Competition and the Harold Craxton Prize for chamber music. After completing his studies, he received the Hodgson Fellowship and the Regency Award for his contribution and exceptional studies at the Royal Academy of Music.
Thanks to the Eigen Muziekinstrument Foundation, he has been able to purchase his own grand piano.
