Jordi Carrasco Hjelm is a Swedish double bass player who focuses on chamber music and improvisation. He lives in the Netherlands, where he is a core member of the Asko Schönberg Ensemble, a leading ensemble in contemporary music. The ensemble collaborates with composers from all over the world and performs premieres at their own venue, the Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ in Amsterdam.
He is one of the founders of the O/Modernt Chamber Orchestra, led by violinist Hugo Ticciati. This ensemble consists of chamber musicians from across Europe and performs regularly at Wigmore Hall in London, where they were ensemble in residence in 2024, and in various series and festivals across Europe.
As an advocate of free improvisation, he has performed at many European chamber music festivals, such as the Oxford Chamber Music Festival, the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht, Felix! Festival Köln, Gent Festival, Miesbach Kammermusik Festival, KMF Eibergen, KMF Sylt, and especially as a regular guest at Musikdorf Ernen in Switzerland.
