Elia Cohen Weissert

Elia Cohen Weissert is an Israeli soprano and cellist. She is currently a member of the Opernstudio NRW. Recent roles she has performed include Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) and Sandmann/Taumann (Hänsel und Gretel) in Wuppertal, Essen, Bonn, and Gelsenkirchen, as well as Amore (Orfeo ed Euridice), Adina (L’Elisir d’amore), and Juliette (Roméo et Juliette). Next season she will appear as Erstes Blumenmädchen (Parsifal), Wanda (Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein), and Le feu, la princesse et le rossignol (L’enfant et les sortilèges). She is a laureate of the Vincenzo Bellini International Competition, a finalist in the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang, and has received the Pro Musicis Prize and the Richard Wagner Scholarship. She studied at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel with Josée van Dam and Sophie Koch, and later in Paris with Stéphanie d'Oustrac and Véronique Gens. Before devoting herself to her singing career, she had a professional career as a cellist, winning major international competitions and performing with leading orchestras and festivals.
